Irispen Translator 6 Review
It was the most horrible experience. The box promisses that the pen will translate from 11 language pairs including German - Russian. When I installed it it comes out that it translates only from English and to English. I called their customer survice in the US. They were totally incompetent and said that the box is incorrect. I talked to the fist represenatative who answered the phone and his supervisor. Next day I called their customer support in Belgium and it comes out that I had to install German language which was on the same CD. After installation it started working, however the translation is absolutely ridiculous. We had several good laughs and returning this product. It can not translate simple sentences, it gives the most ridiculuous translation of individual words and the customer support in the states should be fired if IRIS wants to stay in business

Lingo Navigator Talking Translator (TTN-12) Review
This fun little machine served me very well as I prepared for my trip to Paris. It is easy to use and makes learning fun. My 7 year old still likes to play with it!
I learned several helpful phrases, with the correct pronunciation, making me much more confident as I tried to speak the language.
I didn't really use it much once I got there, as it just isn't fast enough to look up phrases in the moment.
Mostly I used it as a learning tool, and practiced before I encountered a situation. And for that it worked great.
I was glad to have it, in case of emergency, and it's lightweight compact size made it easy to toss in my purse. Much cooler than flipping through a phrase book. People think you're checking your email, or texting so you don't look like such a tourist!
I also used the alarm feature. The voice is clear and easy to understand most of the time. My batteries lasted all week.

Kensington 33117 International All-in-One Travel Plug Adapter Review
I bought this adapter for a trip to Egypt. It fit in the Egyptian outlet ok. I used it once to charge my camera batteries, it worked fine. Next I used it with my hair dryer and it would not work at all and it hasn't worked since. For the price, it should work longer than one use. I would be very wary about purchasing this product.

Sharp Electronics PW-E550 Electronic Dictionary Review
I hope someone could point me to where and how to get this repaired before the one year warranty expires.
Here's what happened.
About a couple of weeks ago, my PW-E550 suddenly went into an infinite loop of "initializing...", and I could not get it out by pressing the "reset" button on its back, changing to a new battery, or anything.
As soon as I press the power "on" button, the device started to ask me to
"Do you want to initialize?"
*Press [Y] to initialize
*Press [N] not to initialize
and no matter which key I pressed, it stayed at the above.
Did anyone encounter the same problem?
I bought this on July 18, 2008, and it's now July 11, 2009, I have fewer than 10 days left before the one year warranty expires.
I also bought another one of this same brand from ebay about 6-8 months before the above one from amazon. I gave it to my son who was just started his high school then. The ebay one costed about twice as much as the amazon one since it was sent from Australia with the additional cost of international shipping. But it works perfectly, no problem (yet?).
Before the Sharp e-dictionary, over the time span of more than 10 years, I bought somewhere close to 10 e-dictionaries all of which were the Franklin brand, which were very slow to use and had very bad UI layout which were the main reasons prompted me to look into other brands.
However, all my Franklin devices are still working, including the oldest one with a broken screen cover.

Franklin Electronic Publishers BES-1890 Speaking Spanish-English Dictionary Review
This product has several features but not the one I was hoping for. I had wanted to type in my own sentence and have it translated instead of having to choose from the ones it has in it's system. I misunderstood what it was capable of doing.

Lingo Voyager 2 Talking Translator (TTV-2) Review
I bought this device hoping that it would be a bit more comprehensive than it turned out to be, but I will mention the following;
PROS:
1.This device is very easy to use.
2.It's small.
3.All of the languages are easy to read on the screen.
4.The Input Method for the Asian languages is well done.
5.Lots of useful phrases are included.
5.The pronunciation is actually helpful, and can easily be turned off.
CONS:
1.Not enough entries for a serious language student.
2.No part of speech is indicated.
3.No conjugations are indicated.
4.Chinese Input Method only allows one character at a time (i.e. You have to type in "guo" first and select the "" character then type "shi" and select the "" character to get the definition "fruit" instead of just typing in "guo3shi2" with tone numbers). I think this is probably preferable for travelers trying to figure out new words, but it can slow things down somewhat if you are used to typing in Microsoft IME.

Franklin LM6000b Speaking Language Master Review
Franklin LM6000b Speaking Language Master: 4/30/09
As an architect I use my Franklin LM600b Language Master (phonetic speller) to augment my computer's spell check.
I have used this same model with continuing satisfaction for at least 20 years. I originally bought one for my dyslectic son and one for myself.
Mine finally went dark after 20 years. I was very pleased to find that the LM600b model continues to be made. I am considering buying a spare.

Wizcom SP1000V SuperPen Translator Review
This software of the pen is terrible! I grew up with computers and software, but this is just terrible. The pen seems not to have the menues, that the software asks for. I tried hours, even another PC, but I was not able to install the dictinoaries to the pen, because the software could not connect to the pen. I am very angry now, and I had to return the pen. I am now looking for a pen from another brand.
I had read the other comments before, about the bad software, but I thougt, I can handle that - I could not!

Franklin TWE-118 5 Language European Translator Review
This product is very reasonably priced, however, it certainly does not measure up to the product description. In particular, the Euro converter did not work for me (or it was just to un-user friendly). Also many needed words and phrases were not found.

Franklin TG-470 12 Language European Translator Review
I found this product to be very disappointing. They are advertising this product as a translator (and selling it for the price of a translator) when in fact this device is nothing else than a dictionary - which may be bought at a fraction of this price from any other store. The few basic (kindergarten level) sentences included in this dictionary do not entitle the device to be a translator by any means!

Lingo Global 8 Translator (TR-800A) Review
WE BOUGHT THIS TRANSLATOR FOR A TRIP TO MEXICO TO HELP WITH SOME OF THE WORDS AND PHRASES THAT I HAD FORGOTTEN FROM MY HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH. IT WAS EASY TO USE AND ALSO HAD A MONEY CONVERSION CALCULATOR WHICH WAS HANDY. FOR THE MONEY THIS WAS A VERY GOOD BUY AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR PEOPLE WITH SOME SPANISH BACKGROUND. THE PRODUCT IS WELL BUILT, HAVING A METAL CASE, NOT PLASTIC AND NICE FEATURES. IT IS WELL WORTH THE COST. AND, OF COARSE, AMAZON SHIPPING IS ALWAYS GREAT.

Nyrius Global ENTOURAGE11 Talking Travel Translator for 11 International Languages Review
I purchased this with my parents in mind for an upcoming trip they would be taking to Europe. Fortunately both my parents can use this new toy with ease. I recommended to them that they make copies of the list of phrases that are included. However, one thing that baffled both my mom and I is that the simple phrase "thank you" is no where to be found. kind of stupid if you ask me. That would be my main reason for only giving it 4 stars and not 5. Other than that I am satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this product to others.

Lingo Voyager 3 Talking Translator (TTV-3) Review
I have used the translator and it seems to live up to the advertising about it,but I do wish that the manufacturer would create an instruction book besides the English language edition for buyers who would want to send the transator to a foreign country. Eg. a person in Russia should be able to be able to read the instructions in their language so they can understand how to use it.

Franklin TG-490 Speaking Translator Review
I recently purchased & returned other speaking translators (voice phrase books / talking dictionaries) from other companies (other brands). This Franklin model is by far the best: clear, natural, speaking voice, vs. a computer-generated "robot voice", with others. My only criticism is that the speaking voice is too fast. At least it can be repeated as often as necessary.

SVAT Electronics LT12 Global Talking Translator for 12 Languages Review
I took this on a 3-week trip to a Spanish speaking country and found it to be absolutely useless. Not only did it freeze up on occasion requiring the batteries to be removed and reset before it would turn on again... and then all settings reset as well - but it was not useful as an aid for even basic communications. Maybe you like to use preset phrases that don't apply to the actual questions or statements that you are trying to use - I don't. If you do, this may work for you. I like to have intelligent conversations and this does not aid in finding a word or phrase in real conversations. A pocket translation dictionary is far more useful.

Nyrius Global ENTOURAGE7 Talking Travel Translator for 7 International Languages Review
This works really well, but I'm not sure how practical it is at the end of the day. Yes, it's smaller than bringing a book along -- particularly if you're off to Europe where you'd need several books! But, the notion of stopping down to sort through the menus and find the translations seems like it would be more annoying in the long run.
Still, having this along for a trip would probably be helpful and if you're foreign language challenged, this little device could certainly help get you out of a jam!

Franklin TG-450 12 Language Translator Review
Helpful travel phrases loaded. Doesn't do translations really; one needs to choose phrase and then adapt that choice to what one wants to say. Didn't translate step-sister, but did translate brother-in-law.
